Research question: Can a resume be automatically scored for ATS compatibility, with specific, actionable feedback on what's holding it back?
Most resumes are rejected by automated screening before a human ever reads them — often due to fixable issues the applicant can't detect. This project analyzes an uploaded resume and returns an ATS compatibility score alongside concrete strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations.
No public dataset maps resume text to actual ATS scores. Real tools like Jobscan use rule-based scoring, the same approach used here — checking what a knowledgeable recruiter would check.
Tested against 5 resumes with deliberately planted issues (a table-only resume, an image-only PDF). The checker caught every planted issue with zero false positives on clean resumes.
